Anna Amadio
(1963* in Belp close to Bern, Switzerland, lives and works in Basel) works as a sculptor, draftswoman and painter. She studied at the renowned art school Hochschule für Bildende Kunst in Basel. In her practice she often questions the materiality of art. Hers is a tendency to work with unusual material, like plastic, shrink foil and acrylic deposits. To reach her means she experiments with new methods. She is always surprising the viewers anew. In 2005 und 2006 she became prominent with two amazing exhibitions, inflating huge plastic shapes, completely barricading the exhibition venues by creating drawings in space. In 2008 and 2012 she had solo shows with the gallery. Between 2012 and 2018 Amadio’s work was included in important group exhibition at Kunsthalle Basel, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Stiftung Langmatt, Baden and Kunsthaus Baselland amongst others. In 2017 and 2018 she had major solo shows in Grenchen and Rapperswil-Jona (Switzerland).
Her works have been acquired by the following public collections: Kunsthalle and Kunstmuseum Basel; Kunstmuseum Schaffhausen; Sturzenegger Stiftung Schaffhausen; Kunstmuseum Thun amongst others. The following corporate collections hold her work: Roche Collection, Basel; Bank Julius Bär, Zurich; Helvetia Insurance, Basel; Mobiliar, Berne. Furthermore, her works can be found in many private collections in Europe and in the United States.
