Drawing Now Art Fair

Presenting Franziska Furter

Booth C15

For this year’s Drawing Now Art Fair in Paris we showcase exclusively the work of the important Swiss artist Franziska Furter (*1972 in Zurich, Switzerland). For the occasion Furter has created new works. She realized two large format ink drawings on paper continuing her long lasting interest in the translation of natural phenomena, everyday pictures and scenes of Mangas into her visual language. Besides these larger works she places a series of smaller images in which principles of chance and control are being tested through the making process. Two different kind of sculptural work, a genre that reveals in her approach always a strong affinity to the line drawing, complement her solo presentation in our booth.

In her oeuvre Furter remains always tangible as an acting person. Art is for her “the making of”, a credo she shares with Marcel Duchamp. Furter uses a whole gamut of different techniques and approaches to visualize the perception of time and explore the notions of planning, concept and coincidence. Hers is a magical touch in transforming mundane material and rooms into lasting visual impressions.

Franziska Furter exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions in public and private institutions amongst others at the Kunstmuseum Basel, Basel; Aargauer Kunsthaus, Aarau; Centre d'Art Contemporain, Yverdon; Palais Tokyo, Paris; Towner, Eastbourne. Her work is in important museum and private collection amongst others Museum of Modern Art, New York, Kunstmuseum Basel and Kupferstichkabinett Berlin, Aargauer Kunsthaus, Aarau.
